Bhoomika Chawla is an actress who has worked in mainly Telugu and Hindi movies. Bhoomika Chawla was born as Rachna in New Delhi, India on the 21st August 1978. Gudiya, as she is also known as, was born to Ajit Singh Chawla and Bali. Her father was a military officer and her older brother followed his line of work. Bhoomika also has an older sister.

Bhoomika was born in a Punjabi family in New Delhi, India and completed her schooling there. Bhoomika moved to Mumbai in 1997 and started her career with ad films and Hindi music video albums. Bhoomika relocated to Mumbai and worked in ads and music videos. Her most popular ad was Ponds Talcum Powder and she was seen on Zee TV’s Hip Hip Hurray.

Bhoomika ‘s debut film was "Yuvakudu" (Telugu) but Bhumika Chawala got recognition as an actress through her second film "Khushi" (Telugu). Bhumika won best actress award for "Khushi". Since then she hasn't looked back and has done five films in Telugu and two in Tamil. Bhumika Chawala made her debut in Hindi films with" Tere Naam" opposite Salman Khan.
Bhoomika won Zee Cine Best New Comer (Female) Award for the film "Tere Naam". Her other recently released Hindi films are- "Run", "Dil Jo Bhi Kahey", "Family - Ties of Blood" and "Gandhi My Father". Bhumika Chawla tied the nuptial knot with her long time friend Bharat Thakur (Yoga guru) on 9th December 2007. The marriage was performed in a simple ceremony attended by close relatives and friends of Chawla and Thakur.
In 2007, Bhoomika married Bharat Thakur, a well-known yoga instructor. In 2009, Bhoomika has a Tamil release Maa with Srikanth, a Hindi movie Classmates and Yagam in Telugu.
